Powerful. Hauntingly beautiful. Hanya Yanagihara’s A Little Life at once shatters you and puts you back together–again and yet again. When you think you have had enough, it gives you more. When think you are ready for more it gives you questions without answers.
The title is misleading, the lives contained within are hardly little, they are vibrant and rich with the depth and texture of living. Characters rendered with an exquisite brush. Alive. Each turn of the page like a breath, a whisper. Page by page, waiting for A Little Life to unfold itself, to reveal itself.
By turns you will love each character and sometimes you may hate them. But always you will return to them. A beautiful tragedy that I for one recommend without reservation.
